Thinking Through Migration: Artistic Research of/with/by the Ukrainian Diaspora
IN // BETWEEN is a practice-led research collaboration, reimagined since February 2022, unfolding across European cities and online. This project brings together a research group and cultural practitioners from the Ukrainian diaspora to explore migration through creative and critical practices. Using an (im)material artefact “The Suitcase”, they engage in practices of documentation and archiving, writing and drawing, photographing and collecting, reading and talking. These practices initiate critical questions for the online and face-to-face workshops and vice-versa. The goal of IN // BETWEEN is to imagine and build new cultural infrastructures and collaborative frameworks that respond to shared concerns emerging during the research period. Each encounter becomes a geographical and conceptual meeting point, helping to establish a network of creative practitioners, organisations, and institutions. Through this work, IN // BETWEEN aims to develop new, research-driven arts and humanities methodologies that can be sustained actively in, between, and in-between Kharkiv, London, and across Ukraine more broadly.
